Remember, you can always ask for contributions or specific pieces for a birthday or holiday gift.  If you know exactly what you want, ask for it! 

If not, ask for gift cards to a specific store and let your family and friends know what you're saving for whether it be a trenchcoat or a briefcase.  They'll be impressed with your resolve.
